We're officially into the Fall season now and if you want to watch some movies that are geared to or set around the season, I have some suggestions below. I was inspired to come up with my own list when I came across this list!

To be fair there are some good choices here, but like all lists, they leave a lot out. Most of the films they list are popular films. Some of my choices may be popular, but some are less seen than others and deserve more attention!

Happy Fall and happy viewing!

1. "The Trouble With Harry" (1955) Alfred Hitchcock's dark comedy was actually filmed in different towns across Vermont (including my hometown in Barre). The Paramount Theater in Barre, VT hosted the premiere of the film on September 30th, 1955 and at the time, my grandfather was the general manager of the theater and hosted the event! Good PR for Vermont for sure!

2. "Autumn Sonata" (1978) Not the happiest film, but it's certainly a top tier film dealing with an estranged mother & daughter trying to re-connect in a very emotional film that will most likely leave you in tears! Famed for being the only time filmmaker, Ingmar Bergman and star, Ingrid Bergman (no relation) worked together!

3. "Once" (2007) The award winning musical drama starring the late, great Irish folk singer, Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová as two struggling musicians that connect over a few day period in Dublin! Very solid film that I highly suggest you watch with your significant other!

4. "An Autumn Afternoon" (1962) The final film from famed filmmaker, Yasujirō Ozu. Not a happy film, but it's sadness quiet, restrained and bittersweet. A touching story of a father & daughter! This is a must see!

5. "Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders" (1977) This is a dazzling, colorful, and surreal coming of age gothic folk-horror tale! A very fascinating and interesting watch if you're feeling adventurous! Not only do you have lush & colorful Autumn colors but there's vampires, magic earrings & more combined with an incredibly haunting choral score!
