Movie Review-How To Make A Killing

When I saw a preview for "How To Make A Killing" a few months ago, the plot was extremely familiar to me! I did some research and it's inspired by the 1949 darkly comic masterpiece, "Kind Hearts And Coronets"! That intrigued me! Both are adaptations of Roy Horniman's 1907 novel, "Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal".

The basic story follows Glen Powell (one of Hollywood's fast rising stars) as man who's disowned at birth (along with his late mother) by his obscenely wealthy family. Driven by a desire to reclaim his multi-billion dollar inheritance, he launches a darkly comedic and violent campaign to eliminate the seven relatives standing in his way. Same basic plot as "Kind Hearts & Coronets" but not even close to being executed as well as that film. The vengeance against the family takes a back-seat and focuses more on the love story! The cast is also unfortunately wasted (especially the actors portraying the seven wealthy family members). This re-make looks extravagant and has plenty of twists and turns, but unfortunately is alas, very forgettable.
