The first major horror film (and the first hit horror film) of 2026! "Primate"!

The premise sounds silly and the plot is razor thin. One plot element: on a remote Hawaii island, an adopted chimpanzee gets rabies after tangling with a mongoose and goes on a killing rampage! The other plot involves an estranged family struggling to get back together after the mom/wife dies of cancer. She was the one who worked closely with communicating with chimpanzees and is the one who adopts "Ben" the chimpanzee who goes crazy after contracting rabies! 

The movie is less than 90 minutes thankfully as there's barely any story here, but the fans of this film will be here for the slasher element and the way the chimpanzee dispatches of his victims. I'm not a fan of violence or gore, unless there's a point or reason for it. The best part of the film is stuntman and actor, Miguel Hernando Torres Umba who is inside the chimpanzee suit playing Ben! I'm so happy that the film relied on practical effects here instead of AI or CGI!
