Fleetwood Mac: The Chain will not be available everywhere, but will release January 29th, 2027 on Apple TV. Frank Marshall, a five-time Academy Award nominee, directed the film and has created a “definitive and unprecedented look at Fleetwood Mac’s story, bringing together voices, memories and perspectives of Grammy Award-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees.”
The title of the documentary, The Chain, is derived directly from their mega hit on the 1977 landmark record, Rumours, in which the song signifies an intertwining bond at the core of Fleetwood Mac, lending a reflection and reminiscing of their history, music, and band despite ongoing adversity and complications.
Just days after the documentary is released, fans will celebrate the half-century birthday of magnum opus and 1978 Grammy Album of the Year, Rumours. Undying staples such as “Go Your Own Way,” “You Make Loving Fun,” “Second Hand News,” “Never Going Back Again,” “Don’t Stop,” “The Chain,” and the forever anthem that just entered the 3-billion club on Spotify, “Dreams.” The album that the movie seems to be most centered around.
The film will emphasize the rollercoasters of Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood and their wild ride together and separate, including “trials and tribulations, personal resilience, and musical dexterity.”
Fleetwood Mac: The Chain will also feature never-before-seen footage and exclusive new interviews, giving fans a full and immersive experience with one of the greatest bands in rock history.
