Led Zeppelin is one of the definitive classic rock bands of all time. Their influence has transcended generations of bands but one seemed to catch the public’s eye a little more than the rest. Greta Van Fleet.

Formed in Michigan in 2012, Greta Van Fleet has become one of the most successful newer rock groups in recent memory. Their breakout EP, From the Fires, released November 10, 2017, stapled itself to modern rock radio with successful tracks like “Highway Tune,” “Black Smoke Rising,” and “Safari Song.”

The band is made up of three brothers and a drummer who began playing local gigs featuring classic rock songs and, yep, you’ve guessed it: a lot of Led Zeppelin. The two groups have been closely tied due to similarities in vocal styles, writing tendencies, and overall sound and era their music is planted in.

Frontman of Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, has been asked his thoughts on the young band and while remaining relatively positive, he has joked, saying lead singer, Josh Kiszka, “borrowed it [his voice] from somebody I know very well.” Plant also compared the 2019 Grammy-award-winning sound of From the Fires to the sound of Led Zeppelin’s 1969 debut, Led Zeppelin I. The two albums span 50 years yet, Zeppelin still had such an influence on new music a half a century later.

Greta Van Fleet, 2 EPs, 3 studio albums, 12 singles, and 4 live albums later seek to release their fourth studio album, Palace for the People, on October 9, 2026. With two songs from the upcoming release already out, “Play Your Games” and “Saw You Stand,” it’s obvious, after hearing them, that the impact of Led Zeppelin will continue to carry on for generations to come.
